Hanging Out with Cookie

February 8, 2014 By Sherri

Hanging out with my baby as the sun was going down! She was falling asleep on my lap is why her eyes are halfway open.

She has been getting frustrated my lap has been getting smaller. And no, it really hasn’t gosh darn it. So Wayne put our 2 lounge chairs side by side so she can sit her rear on one and her front half on my lap. She didn’t like it at first, but I am hoping she will get used to it.

And no she is not as big as she appears. But she is a lot bigger than I had planned!

Peppermint Patty Come Home

January 28, 2013 By Sherri

UPDATE March 17: We are devastated. Patty wasn’t happy here without another Mini Horse buddy. We tried for 3 months with the help of Mini Horse experts and trainers to make it work. The only way it would work would be to get another horse and keep her separated from the goats, which would have caused a huge increase in chores to have two barns to feed and water. Due to my health, I am unable to care for and maneuver two horses around and manage two barns, as well as having to move them all in and out of pastures and corrals. even with the help of my husband. I also had to keep Snickers locked in the house when I went outside, which caused her to have major panic attacks and seizures. I couldn’t allow my baby to suffer. My heart has been ripped from my chest! I love her more than words can say.

Meet Peppermint Patty

Something happened yesterday that I have dreamed of for a very, very, VERY long time. Something that I hoped for, for so long that I had accepted would probably never happen.

But after an extremely hard year of losing my brother, my mom battling lung cancer and my sister battling breast cancer, the time had come.

Little did we know it was well worth the wait, because someone else was praying too.

I had horses until 24 years ago. Always wanted another one! We moved to this house to get one, with the hopes of me getting well. It is a big commitment and responsibility to take on when I can’t even keep up with my own needs. But life was passing me by, so Wayne and I decided to take the plunge!

Peppermint Patty is my Therapy Horse. She provides emotional support, confidence and determination, as well as balance and strength when I walk with her.
