My life changed on June 5th 2012 from a tick bite. i’ve kept journals, writings and reseach about Bb and co-infections. Still find it hard to believe the slew of illnesses that are simply named because of symptoms but have no cure. If I knew that tick bites could cause severly debiliitating and painful lives, I think I might have been very different about my extensive gardens and trails. I had a sucessful creative arts center, taught theatre and voice to teachers for the state, taught migrant worker kids the water cycle using theatre and music in yosemite. I swam every year in our sierra mountain llakes. I even planted and maintained several extensive gardens in my day. The last 10 months have been a living hell highlighted by resilience and and uneasy balance between the two. Today I claim wellness. Tomorrow i could be tremoring on the couch, holding my aching head/neck and praying I’ll make it. Lyme is a terrible parasitic bacteria with a group of friends equally terrible. So glad to tsee your advocacy and power in the face of your illness. I say, “Take that disease” when I see us overcome and stand, depsite the incredible fight that rages within in.
