Peppermint Patty

SAD DAY! Some of you may remember the happiest day of my life on January 26, 2013. It was the day that we brought home the most amazing, gorgeous creature on the planet … a miniature horse we called, Peppermint Patty.

I had wanted her for over 20 years and was head over heals in love with her. She was everything I ever wanted and I cherished every moment with her. But just a few weeks after we got her, she made it very clear she was extremely unhappy here without another horse. We spent 5 months trying to work it all out, with the help and advice from trainers and experts.

However, due to having MS, I am unable to care for and maneuver around two horses. We would have had to keep them separated from the goats, which also created much more work with two barns to feed, water and clean. We would also have had to move them all in and out of pastures and corrals so that the horses could graze on all the property, not eat down one section and not over eat (mini’s can founder easily).

Lastly, I was having to keep my doggie, Snickers locked inside when I went out, because Patty was charging her. Being locked up caused her to have major panic attacks. When she started having seizures, we couldn’t bear hurting our baby anymore.

Patty has been with an amazing trainer and breeder from Harding’s Living Legends since last March. Thank you, Kelley Harding for all you have done for her! You gave her a very happy life and I know you love her, too!

I have not been able to bear the thought of selling her. But I got a call from Kelley yesterday with an amazing story and she will be going to a new home in Pine, CO. My heart is still broken and I can’t bear to talk about her!! Yet, there are a few things I am thankful for:

First, Kelley found out about a man named Mark, who has wanted Patty since he saw her at a fair almost two years ago! But when he returned to the fair to purchase her, they were gone and he lost touch with owner. He was so excited to hear she was available and has been calling and calling both of us!

Second, Mark had bought a mini name Patty Cakes. Our Patty’s actual name is Fancy Dancer and Kelley has been calling her that. So, I thought that was cool that she will be living with a Patty Cake!

Third, when Mark finally found Fancy’s previous owner last August, she sold him Fancy’s mom, Bella. So, Fancy will be reunited with her mom!! Can you believe that??

Please pray for me and for her!! This is very hard for me to do!! I hope that she is very happy and well cared for.
